About the Resort

New investment for the 2010/11 ski season has seen improved snowmaking between Furi and Zermatt with new floodlights added. A new hotel is also planned. Already established in the 2009/10 ski season was the extension of the Matterhorn Express to Trockener Steg from its previous finish point of Schwarzsee. The restaurant there was refurbished and improved now including a pizzeria. This season also saw the addition of a new red piste between Findeln and Grünsee and a new hotel above the Sunnegga lift.

Quite simply one of the most beatiful and impressive resorts the world has to offer, this is a must for any avid skier. The scenery is breathtaking while the resort has been well developed over time combining the new with old tastefully to maintain the atmosphere. It is also linked via piste to Cevinia in Italy for a truly large skiing experience. The skiing quality is excellent for those who can already ski a bit - if a beginner, going with a ski school is absolutely essential as the slopes can be quite challenging for fresh beginners otherwise, as your webmaster can personally testify to!

An alternative base of operations for Zermatt is Täsch which is a short train ride away from Zermatt which operates well into the night on some evenings.
