Lift Passes are one of the most expensive parts of going on a ski holiday. However, you can look at reducing your cost to almost nothing if you shop around well. These days, some resorts and hotels even throw in a free lift pass with your stay so finding these deals is definately a good idea to reduce the cost of your holiday in the snow!
Most resorts will give free lift passes to infants or very much reduced price ones, for example 10 euros for a whole season. The age range usually applies from 5 to 10 years old and it can differ wildly from resort to resort so it's a good idea to check this out before you go. For older kids pre-teen and teenager, some resorts also give special prices for this age range. There even a couple that go up to 22 but this is extremely rare indeed. Usually you can expect to find bigger discounts up to the age of 13, and then a teenager rate up to 16. Beyond this is not very common but again, check the resort websites to find out the full details of this as they are ever changing from season to season.
Families are very well catered for in some resorts as well as giving free lift passes to small children, they will go further and discount for a whole family going at once. If this is offered usually one of the adults gets a lift pass reduction and the children receive a greater discount. Again, check the resort websites for full details of this.
Older people are usually well catered for such as over-60s although it is more common to see reductions for over-65s. Sometimes this is a small discount, and sometimes it is up to 50% which is very helpful in deciding where to take your business! Over 75 attracts even greater discounts in some resorts.
Beginner's normally get a good deal these days too ranging from free lift passes to use on nursery slopes or a restricted beginner's area to a package for hire of equipment, lift pass and lessons. Definately worth looking around to see who gives the best deal in the area you are looking to go to!
